Airline Pet Breed and Snub-Nosed Restrictions

Breed, season, direction and transport mode can change the answer.

Read the actual list

Use the airline’s breed list and any crossbreed definition, not a generic “pet friendly” label. JAL’s international policy excludes Bulldogs and French Bulldogs. ANA lists a wider set of short-nosed dogs for a seasonal suspension. These statements describe different operators and must not be merged into one universal list.

Check direction and dates

Cathay Cargo describes conditional short-nosed transport on specific outbound routes from Hong Kong during certain months, with a qualified shipper. It also identifies an unavailable reverse route. Written acceptance should identify the breed, date, direction and service; a successful trip in the other direction is not sufficient evidence.

Keep border restrictions separate

Airline acceptance cannot override a destination’s legal breed restrictions. France distinguishes category 1 and category 2 dogs using legal criteria that may include pedigree and morphology. Discuss the individual animal with the authority and its fitness to fly with a veterinarian; do not infer either from a breed nickname.
