Identify the applicable branch
Japan separates designated-region and other-region procedures. Residence and transit history matter as well as the airport you depart from. Use the official AQS guidance to confirm your branch before arranging veterinary appointments.
Preserve the sequence and records
The standard other-region procedure links microchip identification, rabies vaccinations, a qualifying antibody test and a waiting period. Check the original records for every event; do not infer that a later document repairs an earlier sequence error.
Notify and certify
AQS asks for advance notification at least 40 days before arrival. The applicable export health inspection and government certificate form another step. Use the destination page for the dated reference and contact AQS about exceptions; this guide does not calculate an individual departure date.
