Eligibility and route restrictions

Ordinary pets cannot travel in the cabin. With prior reservation and documents, pets departing Mauritius may travel as checked baggage on eligible aircraft/routes; independent pet travel is booked through Air Mauritius Cargo or a freight agent. This does not establish accompanied baggage eligibility into Mauritius.

Notify the airline when booking accompanied baggage. Cargo booking requires space confirmation, an IATA-compliant crate and pet count per crate. Cargo charges depend on combined pet, container and food weight; long/overnight Mauritius transit care can carry an additional fee.

Keep pets healthy and vaccination records current; carry original and copies of required export/import/transit permits and valid health/rabies certificates. Specific breed conditions apply. A private clinic certificate alone does not establish government entry clearance; verify destination rules separately.
