Apply in writing to the Commissioner Animal Health at least seven days before import, giving source country/supplier, animal type, breed, sex and quantity. Request the current species protocol. The Commissioner assesses risk, may refuse unmanaged risk, and specifies conditions and entry port in the permit.

Send the import permit to the exporting veterinary authority to arrange preparation, inspection, tests and certification. Carry its official health certificate in English or with English translation, attesting compliance with the permit. The import section also lists invoice/price list, packing list and airway bill/bill of lading; confirm documents applicable to a personally owned pet.
