Trinidad and Tobago Pet Import Requirements

US microchip, FAVN/RFFIT, permit and arrival-based certificate deadline.

Pet identification

Dog / Cat · In the cabin / Accompanied hold baggage / Separate cargo service

Implant an ISO 11784/11785-compatible microchip before rabies vaccination. Maintain a valid rabies vaccine and record vaccination date and chip consistently on the certificate.

Selected official requirements for personal pet dogs/cats exported from the United States. These are entry conditions, not airline acceptance. Other origins, commercial movements, transit, unusual ages and permit-specific conditions need separate checks. Confirm all requirements with the issuing veterinarian and destination authority.

Tests and conditional pathways

Dog / Cat · In the cabin / Accompanied hold baggage / Separate cargo service

At least one month after rabies vaccination, obtain FAVN or RFFIT ≥0.5 IU/ml from an approved laboratory. The laboratory must email original results directly to the Chief Veterinary Officer; a traveller-sent copy does not replace that submission.

Tests and conditional pathways

Intact dogs must test negative for Brucella canis and the certificate records the test date. The linked certificate does not set a test interval; confirm the permit. Cats and neutered dogs do not use this intact-dog branch.

Before export, treat internal and external parasites and record dates, drug names and administered doses on the certificate. This model sets no numeric treatment interval; do not borrow another destination’s deadline.
