For the standard advance-permit path apply by email to the entry-port AQS between 7 and 60 days before departure. The permit is valid for 60 days after issue. The guide recommends applying 30 days ahead and estimates 5–7 Thai business days after complete documents, not guaranteed approval. A limited accompanied-arrival application exception is described separately; do not rely on it without confirming boarding and AQS acceptance.

For all primary vaccinations wait 21 days after vaccination before starting the import-permit application. Primary rabies vaccination must be given at age at least 12 weeks. The current US model also declares vaccination at least 21 days before departure; plan certification and departure to satisfy those statements. The early-permit application deadline does not shorten the primary-vaccine wait.

For dogs, if there is no valid leptospirosis vaccination or the 21-day condition is not met, provide a negative leptospirosis test within 30 days before departure. The current model permits a valid qualifying vaccination instead of that test. Confirm the accepted test method with the permit/AQS; this dog-only alternative is not an extra test for cats.

The certifying veterinarian must examine the US dog/cat within 10 days before departure, verify listed identification and attest to no relevant infectious/contagious disease or known exposure. The certificate also states that the origin area is not quarantined for rabies and there was no rabies exposure. This examination window is separate from certificate validity.

Plan to arrive within both windows; a later endorsement must not be treated as extending the model’s issue-based validity. For a US pet shipped alone, notify the Thai quarantine station of travel plans and provide the US shipping address, Thai destination address, pet flight itinerary and copies of both shipper and pickup-person passports, alongside the import permit and official certificate. Do not assume the traveller and pickup person are the same person.

The January 2025 guide restricts air-cargo pickup to AQS working hours Monday–Friday, excluding weekends and Thai holidays. It lists Suvarnabhumi cargo AQS at CE-1, 08:30–16:30; accompanied-animal service is listed as 24 hours. Confirm the booked entry port’s actual service before routing a flight; the accompanied hours must not be used for cargo pickup.
