Apply for APHIA’s dog/cat import permit. At arrival, take the animal to the quarantine counter and submit the original veterinary certificate issued by the exporting authority.
APHIA has separate rabies-free, other-origin, re-entry and quarantine-exemption branches. This first batch does not calculate test or application deadlines or determine an individual exemption.

The ordinary rabies-free pathway depends on continuous residence: since birth for animals under 180 days, or at least 180 days before entry for older animals. Re-entry has a separate option. Check the approved origin list and full history, not only the last airport.

Post-entry quarantine exemptions depend on a qualifying application branch, test history and supporting documents. When a quarantine space is needed, its availability shown online is provisional until documents are accepted and the reservation is confirmed.
