Most personal dogs/cats arriving from Great Britain or directly from Northern Ireland have no animal-health entry requirements. Import bans still apply; pets originating abroad must first have entered Great Britain lawfully before onward free movement.

From the EU, comply with the linked Great Britain pet rules and normally clear an approved Great Britain route before onward travel. Direct air entry needs a DEFRA-authorized pet transporter and prior DEFA arrangement. Republic of Ireland has a direct-route exception with advance DEFA notification; private transport from other EU origins cannot land pets directly.

Dogs/cats from outside the UK and EU cannot enter Isle of Man directly. Arrange entry through a Great Britain Border Control Post first; only after clearance and free circulation in Great Britain may they continue to Isle of Man. Obtain the actual Great Britain documents and arrangements separately.

XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and Japanese Tosa types cannot be imported. Assessment is by appearance, not simply the advertised breed name. UK exemption certificates do not authorize entry; a resident prohibited dog taken off-island cannot return under this ban.
